Prayer of the Day
*HymnaI: TOSB #234 "This Is the Day"
* Prayer of Confession LISTEN IN Advent,
O God, is the time of year that makes us so joyful and hopeful that
many of us forget that we are part of a covenant community that has
lost its way. Yet, in our moments of honesty, we know that we are
people who have been negligent. We have sought our will and not yours,
O God. We pray for forgiveness and ask that you to put us back on a
righteous path. Give us gracious hearts to remember those in need among
us. Give us generous spirits, O Lord, by which we might have the
courage to reach out to those who need your help via our hands and
bounty. Make us the holy people you first created us to be as we
prepare for the coming of the Christ Child. Amen. *Silent Confession
*Declaration of Forgiveness Pastor:
God has given you grace and peace in Christ Jesus, and enriched you
with many good gifts. Friends, believe the good news. People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Amen.
*Response: #392 (v.l) "Take Thou Our Minds, Dear Lord" Take Thou our minds, dear Lord, we humbly pray; Give us the mind of Christ each passing day; Teach us to know the truth that sets us free; Grant us in all our thoughts to honor Thee.

Psalm 80 (Selected) Leader: Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock! People: You who are enthroned upon the cheribim, shine forth. Leader: Stir up your might and come to save us! People: Restore us, O God; let your face shine, that we may be saved. Leader: You brought a vine out of Egypt; you drove out the nations and planted it. People: You cleared the ground for it; it took deep root and filled the land. Leader: Turn again, O God of hosts; look down from heaven, People: And see; have regard for this vine, the stock that your right hand planted. Leader: Restore us, O Lord God of hosts; People: Let your face shine, that we may be saved.

the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus God kept his promises. All
that we can ever hope for was present in Christ; but the work of God in
Christ is not over. God calls us to hope for more than we have yet
seen. The hope God gives us is ultimate confidence that supports us
when lesser hopes fail us. In Christ God gives hope for a new heaven
and earth, certainty of victory over death, and assurance of mercy in
judgment beyond death. This hope gives us courage for the present
struggle. (from A Declaration of Faith)
