Prayer of Confession
O
God of hope, in the
resurrection of Jesus Christ you transform death into life in a
renewed world. Despite this good news, we often remain captive to
doubt and fear. Attached to past dreams and expectations, we are
afraid to walk into new life. Clinging to the anxieties of life, we
fail to claim your hope. Set us free for the joy of Jesus Christ who
now lives to bring us life and the forgiveness of sins. It is in his
name we ask this. Amen.
*Silent
Confession
*Declaration
of Forgiveness
Pastor:
God
has received Jesus Christ as our representative bearing gifts and
sacrifices for our sins. Friends,
believe the good news.
People:
In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Amen.

Psalm
24
(Selected)
Leader:
The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it, the world, and
those who live in it;
People:
For He has founded it upon the seas, and established it on the
rivers.
Leader:
Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in His
holy place?
People:
Those who have clean hands and pure hearts, who do not lift up their
soul to what is false, and do not swear deceitfully.
Leader:
They will receive blessing from the Lord, and vindication from the
God of their salvation.
People:
Such is the company of those that seek Him, who seek the face of the
God of Jacob.
Leader:
Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors!
People:
That the King of glory may come in.
Leader:
Who is the King of glory?
People:
The Lord, strong and mighty. The Lord of hosts, he is the King of
glory!

ALAN:
On November 1, 2006, the Rev. Dr. E. Wayne Adcock began his service
as interim pastor for this church, Kettle Moraine United Presbyterian
Church.
WAYNE:
I thank Kettle Moraine United Presbyterian Church, its members and
friends, for the love, kindness, and support shown me these last 3
years. I ask forgiveness for the mistakes I made, and I am grateful
for the way my leadership was accepted. As I leave, I carry with me
all I have learned while in your midst.
PEOPLE:
We receive your thankfulness, offer you forgiveness, and accept that
you now leave to minister elsewhere. We express our gratitude for
your time among us, and we ask your forgiveness for our mistakes.
Your influence on our faith and faithfulness will not leave us at
your departure.
WAYNE:
I forgive you and accept your gratitude, trusting our time and our
parting are pleasing to God.
WORDS
OF RELEASEALAN:
Do you, the members of Kettle Moraine United Church release Wayne
from the duties of interim pastor?
PEOPLE:
We do, with the help of God.
ALAN:
Do you offer your encouragement for his ministry as it unfolds in
new ways?
PEOPLE:
We do, with the help of God.
ALAN:
Wayne, do you release this congregation from turning to you and
depending on you?
WAYNE:
I do, with the help of God.
ALAN:
Do you offer your encouragement for the continued ministry of this
church and on the relationship with the Rev. Kurt Walker who is
coming to serve as the new pastor?
WAYNE:
I do, with the help of God.
ALAN:
On behalf of the Presbytery of Milwaukee and the Presbyterian Church
(U. S. A.) I witness to the words spoken today – words of
thankfulness, forgiveness, and release. The member congregations of
the Presbytery hold you in prayer. We pledge our support in the
transition signified by this ceremony, and in our mission and
ministry together in the Lord in the years ahead.
PEOPLE:
Thanks be to God.
PRAYER
(ALL)
God,
whose everlasting love is trustworthy, help each of us trust the
future which rests in your care. The time we were together in your
name saw our laughter and tears, our hopes and disappointments.
Guide us as we hold these cherished memories, but move in different
directions. Until that time when we are completely with you and with
each other, we shall hold each other in our hearts. We pray this in
the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
