Prayer of Confession
LISTEN IN We speak and sing your praises, O God, for we are often filled with awe and gratitude for the wonders and blessings of life. And
yet we confess that too often we think we deserve your gracious love as
a reward for all the ways we have been faithful. Our lives of gratitude
and praise become dependent upon our measure of the things we enjoy. We
ask your forgiveness for our confusion: help us to appreciate the gifts
we have from others, and to live our lives in gratitude that shares our
gifts honestly and openly with others. Help us, we pray as faithful
disciples, to live more fully in the sacrificial love and resurrection
faith of our risen lord, Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray. * Assurance of God's Love (pastor) . . . thanks and glory be to God! * Acceptance of God's Love (unison) In
the abiding grace of God, the sacrificial love of Jesus Christ, and the
energetic work of the Holy Spirit, we know that we are forgiven and
made new. Thanks and Glory be to God! * Hymn in response to the forgiveness of sin # 332 "Live Into Hope of Captives Freed"

Affirmation of Faith - Brief Statement of Faith, 1991
LISTEN IN In
life and in death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus
Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust
in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship
and serve. We
trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. Jesus proclaimed the
reign of God: preaching good news to the poor and release to the
captives, teaching by word and deed and blessing the children, healing
the sick and binding up the brokenhearted, eating with outcasts,
forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe the gospel. Unjustly
condemned for blasphemy and sedition, Jesus was crucified, suffering
the depths of human pain and giving his life for the sins of the world.
God raised this Jesus from the dead, vindicating his sinless life,
breaking the power of sin and evil, delivering us from death to life
eternal.
