Leader:  We are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone.

People:  In Christ, the whole structure is joined together. We are built together into a dwelling place for God.

Leader:  Now to God who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish so much more than all we can ask or imagine,

People: To God be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

 * Prayer of Confession                                          LISTEN IN

How easily we forget, Lord, that you are God and we are your children.  When we try to tell you what to do, forgive us, Lord.  When we stubbornly go our own way, forgive us, Lord.  When we ignore your call to come back to you, forgive us, Lord.  In your mercy, cleanse our hearts, our minds, and our wills that we might love you and serve you.  We pray this through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

 *Silent Confession

 *Declaration of Forgiveness

Pastor: The Lord will give his people justice and have compassion on his servants. Friends, believe the good news.

People:   In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.  Amen.

*Response:  TOSB #26        “Have Thine Own Way Lord”

Have thine own way, Lord, have thine own way!

      Thou art the potter.  I am the clay;

Mold me and make me After thy will,

While I am waiting, yielded and still.

People:  The Lord is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens.

Leader:  When Israel went out from Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language,

People:  Judah became God’s sanctuary, Israel his dominion.

Leader:   The sea looked and fled; Jordan turned back.

People:  The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs.

 *Affirmation of Faith –

In the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus God kept his promises.  All that we can ever hope for was present in Christ; but the work of God in Christ is not over.  God calls us to hope for more than we have yet seen.  The hope God gives us is ultimate confidence that supports us when lesser hopes fail us.  In Christ God gives hope for a new heaven and earth, certainty of victory over death, and assurance of mercy in judgment beyond death.  This hope gives us courage for the present struggle.                                                                               (from A Declaration of Faith)
