Call to Worship
Leader: We are here because God calls us into a
community of faith.
People:
May our wounds be mended, our doubts secured, and our questions
addressed.
Leader: Resting in Christ's spirit, may we leave
energized with the power of love.
People: This is the day God has
made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Greeting
Pastor: The Lord be with you.
People: And also with you.
Prayer of the Day LISTEN IN
(Pass prayer
requests to the aisle; ushers will collect them.)
*Hymnal: # 338 “Kum ba Yah”
* Prayer of
Confession LISTEN IN
Gracious God, we are your people. For that we give you thanks. In moments of temptation – when we forget who
we are, when we fail to see our connection to others and to your creation, when
we take more than we need and leave less than others require - help us to feel
your presence with us. Lead us in your
way and enable us to resist the self-centered impulses of our hearts and our
culture. And when we fail to heed your
movement in our heart, forgive us, change us, and enable us to be your people
in more than words. We give you thanks
for your love and your willingness to do this, and we pray this in Jesus’
Name. Amen.
*Silent Confession
*Declaration of Forgiveness
Pastor: If we confess our
sins, God is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from
all unrighteousness. Friends,
believe the good news.
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Amen.
*Response: #280 (Vv. 1& 2) “Amazing
Grace”
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me!
I
once was lost, but now I’m found; was blind, but now I see.
‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved;
How precious
did that grace appear the hour I first believed!
Children’s Blessing
Prayer for Illumination
* Psalm 17 & 18 (Selected)
Leader: Hear my cause, O Lord, attend to my cry; give
ear to my prayer.
People: From you let my vindication come; let your
eyes see the right.
Leader: Try my heart, visit me
by night, test me to find no wickedness in me.
People: I call upon you for you will answer me, O
God.
Leader:
Incline your ear to me, hear my words.
People: Wondrously show your steadfast love, O Savior
of those who seek refuge.
Leader: Guard me as the apple of
your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings.
People: I love you , O Lord, my
strength; the Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer.
Leader:
My God, my rock in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my
salvation.
People: I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be
praised, so shall I be saved from my enemies.
