Prayer of the Day     Listen in

(Pass prayer requests to the aisle; ushers will collect them.)

*Hymnal: #142          “All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name!”

 * Prayer of Confession      Listen in

O God, we have sinned and are ashamed.  We have used your name lightly, and have treated your commands with disrespect.  We admit that we have not given your Holy Scripture a place of honor in our lives and have most often neglected to open its pages.   We know about the works of love that Christ assigned to his disciples, but we have failed to do them, or when we try to do them, we give up quickly fearing criticism or rejection by others.  Forgive us, O God, for our half-hearted commitment and self-satisfied attitude.  Help us to be obedient and dedicated, and correct our priorities.  We give you thanks for all that Christ our Lord has done, to free us from our sin and the consequences of our sins.  In our Savior’s name we pray.  Amen.

 *Silent Confession

 *Declaration of Forgiveness

Pastor: Christ proclaims peace to you who were far off and now are made near by the blood of his cross.    Friends, believe the good news.

People:   In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.  Amen.

*Response:  #403         “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”

What a friend we have in Jesus, All our sins and grief’s to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer! O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, All because we do not carry  Everything to God in prayer!

 The Peace

Pastor:   The peace of Christ be with you.

      People:  And also with you.
