*Hymnal: #455                   “All Creatures of Our God and King”

* Prayer of Confession             LISTEN IN

O God of grace, you love us, but we do not love you fully.  You call but we do not always listen.  You offer peace, but we choose to live with anxiety and fear. Without your peace, O Lord, we are so consumed with ourselves that we have no compassion to offer others.  Have mercy on us.  Forgive our sins, and teach us to receive your grace, that we may better serve your Holy Kingdom.  Forgives us for being so caught up in our cares and concerns that we have little time to listen to you or to care for others.  Thank you for hearing our prayers and forgiving us.  We pray this in Jesus’ name.  Amen.

 *Silent Confession

*Declaration of Forgiveness

Pastor: In Christ our release is secured and our sins are forgiven through the shedding of his blood.   Friends, believe the good news.

People:   In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.  Amen.

 *Response:  #391 (Vs. 1 & 6)        “Take My Life”

Pastor:   The peace of Christ be with you.

Old Testament Reading - Psalm 40 (Selected)

Leader:  I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry.

People:  He drew me up from the desolate pit, and set my feet upon a rock.

Leader:  He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God.

People:  Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord.

Leader:  Happy are those who make the Lord their trust,

People:  Who do not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after false gods.

Leader:  I have told the glad news of deliverance in the great congregation.

People:  I have spoken of your faithfulness and your salvation.

Leader:   May all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you:

People:  May those who love your salvation say continually, “Great is the Lord!”
