THOUGHTS FROM THE
PASTOR
"Therefore the
Lord himself will give you a sign. Look, the young woman is with
child and shall bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel". ~
Isaiah 7:14
This is a new beginning
for my family and me and for the people of KMUPC. It is fitting that
this new journey of faith begins with the new church year that is
marked by the beginning of Advent. Not only does it mark new
beginnings, it also reminds us that this is a time of preparation. We
prepare ourselves to celebrate the coming of Immanuel, God With Us.
We prepare to receive the Christ child, as a parent would prepare to
receive the birth of a child. We prepare with the gathering of
presents, the notification of friends and family of the joyous event
that soon will come, and the excitement that comes from the
expectation of new life. This new life, this new beginning, is
offered to each one of us, and the whole world, through the birth of
Jesus Christ.
Jenni and I have been
overwhelmed with the hospitality extended to us (and Isaac!) by the
people of KMUPC as we begin our new lives here. It is obvious that a
lot of hard work went into preparing for our arrival. We are so
grateful to God that I have been called here to be your pastor and I
am eager to get to know each one of you and learn what is going on in
your life.
I look forward to walking
with each one of you on the journey of new life that Christ has given
each us; to explore what it means to be a Christian in this day and
age; to grow together in our discipleship to Jesus Christ; to listen
to God's unique call to each one of us and to the community of faith
called Kettle Moraine United Presbyterian Church.
Please do not hesitate to
call me or drop by the church office to introduce yourself or just
say "Hi". My cell phone number is 262-719-4424. Our home
number is 262-361-4232. During the Advent and Christmas season, my
schedule will be kind of jumbled up, but you should find me at the
church office most mornings (Monday through Thursday) from 9 am to
noon. If you want to make sure I am around, just call ahead using my
cell phone number.
The Peace of Jesus Christ
be with you during this Advent and Christmas season and each day
thereafter.
